Few lyricists are as well-traveled as Cyrez, the War Spawn. Between the unforgiving streets of Paterson, New Jersey and the padded walls of a psych ward, War Spawn finds inspiration in a complex life for his debut album End Game.
Born Richard Medina, War Spawn has been an active participant in underground rap music for the better part of a decade. But after a sudden onset of hallucinations, a schizophrenia diagnosis, and several weeks in a mental hospital, War Spawn decided to pen End Game as a way to battle his psychological demons on the mic. Instead of taking his prescribed medications, he chronicles his destroyed relationships, hallucinations, nightmares, and disturbing fantasies to avoid being consumed by madness.
War Spawn partners with his long-time collaborator and Miami native Raw Stiles on the album’s production. Together, the duo paint fantastic dystopian soundscapes beneath War Spawn’s take-no-prisoners writing style. Spawn's quick-fire rap style hearkens back to hip-hop’s Golden Era and shuts down the battle for his mind in End Game.
